Experiencia fantástica: I did this tour with my wife and children and it was phenomenal. We toured basque country in France along the French coast and all I can say is we saw more and learned more than just going by ourselves. Transportation was spectacular our guide Ander was such a gentleman and so good to our kids I could’ve not asked for more. They really know what they’re doing and they really care. I highly recommend this to anybody who wants to tour around country or any of their tours they offer. Can’t wait to go back for a food and wine tour. Definitely on our bucket list.

Experiencia fantástica: Our unforgettable hike with our amazing Go Basque guide along the Camino through Txakoli vineyards surpassed expectations! The views!! We passed lush green vineyards, spectacular elevated views of the gorgeous blue ocean which contrasted the earthy brown sandy beaches and walked through the charming towns. It was a very welcome active hike, across different elevations, allowing us onto the trails around the Basque region. Our guide was excellent to pitch the route according to our ability, giving us options where he felt suitable, and taking into account the weather. We opted to extend our time for seafood lunch at Getaria which was outstanding. We also booked the Biarritz and the French Basque Coast tour on another day which was a slower pace but no less engaging!! Three of us have such fond memories of our trip to San Sebastián and the Basque region as Go Basque opened to us the soul of the region with their warmth and sharing of the people, food and culture! Communication with them was always prompt and they were patient with information to help us choose the tours that suited us best. We will be back again!! Thank you so much Go Basque!

We asked to see wineries with a relaxed vibe & with wonderful views - and boy did he deliver! Experiencia fantástica: We were a family of 7 to visit San Sebastián for a 5 day holiday. We had an amazing few days in San Sebastián and Bilbao. Ander was the best guide we have ever had. Knowledgable, experienced, adjustable ( as the weather put a spoke in the original plans). He gave us a warm, well rounded feel of the local food, activities and must sees of the Basque Country. We loved our experience and strongly recommend a visit to this beautiful place.

Experiencia fantástica: My 3 girlfriends and I needed to get from San Sebastián to Bilbao and decided to take our time and see the sites. This was the way to do it! We had a great time and stopped wherever we wanted (Balenciaga museum, cliffs where Game of Thrones was filmed, a stunning riverside restaurant (best food of our trip), a church in Getaria. Definitely the way to go and get all of the history and personalized day, Ander was so knowledgeable and fun!

Experiencia fantástica: We had a wonderful day learning about the Basque Country with Ander. He was very accommodating and let us customize our trip. He picked us up at our apartment and took us to see the Balenciaga Museum in Getaria. We walked the city and marina. From there we saw breathtaking views and walked the beach at Algorri (GOT). He made reservations at an amazing spot for lunch at Bedua. It was on an ocean river that rose with the tide. Wonderful fish cooked on and outdoor grill and a beautiful garden. We ended our trip at the Guggenheim in Bilbao. Would definitely recommend any tour with him.

He took us 2 couples on a private & custom day tour of the French Basque Country, driving us through gorgeous hillsides & 4 adorable country towns. Experiencia fantástica: My family had a wonderful pintxo tour through Old Town today. It was a great way to learn about Basque food and the history of this incredible city and region. Without guidance from Ander, we wouldn't have known where to go or how to order the best food from the best places. They made it so easy for all, even our 5 and 9 year old had something interesting to try at each stop.

Experiencia fantástica: What a wonderful day we spent with Ander visiting a few of the many nearby medieval Basque villages. Our private tour with Ander has honestly been THE MOST MEMORABLE PART OF OUR VISIT TO SAN SEBASTIAN. We especially appreciated the door-to-door service and the easy conversation with Ander, who was raised in San Sebastian. We learned not only about the areas we visited but about what life is like growing up, living and working here. We never felt rushed and Ander was open to stopping anywhere we liked. Our first stop was Sare, known for its delicious Gateau Basque (cake) and where fronton (jai alai) is the favorite pastime. Traveling the lush countryside to our next stop in Espelette, Ander pointed out the raised wooden huts built on towers used to trap migrating wood pigeons. Espelette is known for its production of espelette red peppers. The entire village has white houses with red or green shutters. It looked like a fairy tale town built as a temple to the little red peppers. The 17th century Basque church had a single aisle with wooden galleries and the scent of old wood. Ander knows all the places where you can taste the local cheese, chocolate or pate. Finally on to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port which is the starting point and the most challenging part of the Camino de Santiago. The streets are steep and cobbled, dotted with pilgrim lodgings and many shops. The “way” is well-marked with directional arrows embedded into the cobblestone streets and signs taped to poles. Experiencia fantástica: Memorable Wine Tasting Tour of Rioja Our group of 4 wine lovers highly anticipated our trip to Rioja, since our we had to cancel our trip back in 2020 due to the pandemic. Nina was fantastic in booking the trip, helping to customize our winery stops as well as our lunch option. On the day of the tour, we were warmly greeted at our hotel in San Sebastian by Ander. He was due to be our guide back in 2020, so it was 3 years in the making! Once we were on our way, Ander provided helpful information, background, and history during the whole drive to the Rioja wine country. We began our tour in the town of Haro with stops at few of the smaller producers. Ander was incredibly flexible adding in extra stops here and there as we had extra time. We then headed to two fantastic smaller wineries in the countryside. Both were quite unique, using some newer methods and techniques, while respecting the traditions of the region. We had a delicious, relaxing lunch where we were able to try some local specialties. Finally, we rounded out a memorable day with a tour of the quaint town of La Guardia and a quick stop to take in the architectural sights of a few modern winery buildings. Even though this was a repeat trip to Rioja for some of the group, it was an entirely new, exciting, and unforgettable experience for us all. Ander was unfailingly informative and engaged throughout the entire trip. Ander and Nina were also incredibly helpful with tips and suggestions for the rest of our time in Basque country. Their cheat sheet of Pinxto bars was invaluable for our Pinxto crawl later in the week. The Go Basque team really made us feel like we were part of the Basque country family. We hope to return for future tours with the team.

Experiencia fantástica: I can’t say enough about how terrific it was spending a day in beautiful Pays Basque with Ander. I knew just enough of the history of the region to provide a skeleton of knowledge, and Ander made it come to life with so much great detail. His choices for the trip are impeccable, doing a great job of avoiding big crowds while allowing you to experience the remarkable region. We entrusted our menu and souvenir choices to him, and he did not lead us astray. He also provided good travel and dining trips for us for San Sébastien, his hometown that he obviously loves so much and knows so well.

Experiencia fantástica: A HIGHLIGHT of our time in San Sebastián and the Basque Country was our French Basque Coast tour with Go Basque Tours and Ander! Not only were we (myself & my two teenage daughters) able to arrange in advance to swap one planned stop with another (we wanted to see Bayonne, France - it’s amazing so go!) but Ander was incredibly knowledgeable, let us walk, shop, meander at our own pace and was one of the best guides we’ve had on our international excursions! Experiencia fantástica: My friend and I had a truly amazing day touring La Rioja with Ander from Go Basque Travel. We took the “La Rioja Full Wine Experience Tour”. We were picked up directly from our apartment in San Sebastián by Ander in a luxury sedan. I had needed to make an unplanned urgent stop at a pharmacy before we started our journey and Ander handled it like a pro ensuring I was able to get what I needed. Then on the stunning drive out to La Rioja Ander provided some really wonderful information about the local areas and we were driving through. Anecdotally, we ended up having a fascinating conversation on the drive with Ander about the Basque Country, its people and culture. It was excellent getting the perspective from someone who grew up locally. The great conversation definitely enhanced our experience on the tour. Since we were making good time we visited several wineries (which was an awesome surprise since only two were guaranteed initially when booking the tour). The wineries were pretty different one to the next, which we appreciated as it made the tour overall very interesting and not at all repetitive. In some wineries we were able to go deep in to their production areas and others we stuck to the showrooms for tasting. We also had a chance to explore a bit in a small town that housed one of the wineries, Ander took us around and showed us a few places in the town. We did then have lunch at another winery where Ander had taken special care to ensure my friend who is vegetarian was accommodated. The lunch was several courses... delicious, refined and not rushed at all. Eventually we got back in the car to meet back with Ander after we had finished eating and he took us to see a couple of sites that I had specially requested to snap some photos. Then we enjoyed the drive home with our stomachs full of delicious food and wine and again great conversation with Ander. For anyone who loves trying wine this is the tour to book. Over the course of the day we had tasted about 12-15 wines (the tastings also catered to our individual preferences which was fantastic, so my friend and I each tried some different wines). Finally, Ander was awesome - professional, courteous, extremely knowledgeable and a genuine pleasure to have as our guide. I absolutely recommend this tour to others, might seem pricey on first glance but I promise you it is worth it. I will do another tour with Go Basque when I’m back in Basque Country in the future.

Experiencia fantástica: My wife and I did the "French Basque Countryside Tour from San Sebastian" with Ander and Nina. It was an incredible experience and one of the highlights of our honeymoon in San Sebastian. We were able to travel to small towns off the beaten path, places that would be virtually inaccessible to most tourists. Anders and Nina were great company and Go Basque is their family owned and operated business. They even took the time to email recommendations for our trip to Pamplona after the day trip, going above and beyond to make our vacation a memorable one. I would encourage anyone looking to book a trip with them to do so directly through their website (avoiding the hefty markup charged by Trip Advisor)!
